I agree. But some people trying to argument both points which end up contradicting things.
They want trade tariffs and punish for made/assembled goods, and yet at the same time, they don’t want to buy a Ford/GM/Dodge(Fiat, whatever). I don’t get it. At least be consistent when you spend with your wallet.
Have you seen what UAW does to a Lexus if you try to bring it to meeting? Lol
Tariffs and taxes are great..Until they start to impact your own wallet, and you have to pay a lot more for something you thought wouldn’t affect you..And then, you’l be just as ticked off and anyone else that realized the implications a lot sooner than you did..lol…[/quote]If you’re (covertly and overtly) referring to me, here, flu, I have never suggested tariffs as punishment for US companies manufacturing overseas who want to sell their goods to Americans. That is our President Elect’s platform. I like the fact that more of those “flyoverian deplorables” (spd’s words) will again have living wage jobs available in or near their hometowns under a Trump administration but I’m not in charge of how this is actually accomplished. To me, it doesn’t matter. That’s the Trump administration’s bailiwick. You’re giving me way to much credit, here.
Also, me (and no doubt hundreds of other Piggs, incl yourself) were buying foreign-made vehicles lo-o-o-ong before a Trump presidency was a twinkle in anyone’s eye. I last bought a (used) vehicle in 1999. I cannot undo the purchase now, nor would I want to.
I’m open to considering American-made AWD/4WD vehicles but for my purposes, I haven’t seen very many of those in the places in the mountains I would want to live in (except to pull horse trailers and the like). The Toy Tundra and American-made full-size pickups are nice (gas guzzlers) but they have too long of a wheel base to turn on the mountain trails without making a lot of (dangerous) maneuvers (kinda fun to watch :=]). The Colorado favorite in the high Rockies is the Toy FJ Cruiser. Unfortunately, Toyota stopped making them after model year 2013 and they are the type of vehicle which is seldom found on the resale market (unless they have been reduced to parts) :=0
