Interesting problem you are having flu. Latency issues are one of the reasons I am hesitant to convert my primary phone # to GV. The fact that there is an extra layer of having to route through Google just means another possible failure point with delayed SMS messages and failed calls. I guess this is proof that such issues do indeed exist.
