What’s worse is that I have found few elementary teachers who love math or science. Most have a similar comprehension to what you are describing – yet they are responsible for teaching these kids who may not have a lot of support at home. Most kids in the Carmel Valley neck of the woods, as you know, are put in with tutors, after school programs, or Khan Academy to make up for it. It’s a shame for our school district and for virtually every other school district .
