I could be crude and say that these women failed as gold diggers and this was the best situation they could come up with. [/quote]
I’m glad I have a sense of humor. This gave me a good laugh! You guys shouldn’t take dave so seriously.
I’ll give one anecdotal case. I know one SAHD really well. I’m trying to word this in a polite way but let’s just say there is a disparity on looks within the marriage in his favor. The wife is an HR exec and they have 1 child. The husband’s role is basically to make sure the child gets on the bus for school and gets to her extra curricular activities. He’s also physically in the house when she does homework. And he cooks dinner. Beyond that, he is 100% a free man. During school hours he skis all day (lives in CO, skiing distance to resorts), mountain bikes when there is no snow, or hangs out with other ski bums. He doesn’t do any of the household errands, he’s not involved with getting the child up and ready in the morning or at bedtime, and often leaves on weekend or week long skiing/biking jaunts.
My husband and I think they have an arranged marriage. We think she approached him with a marriage deal: sire one child with bare minimum nanny duties in exchange for all expense paid life of leisure. Now, is he the gold digger and at risk of being kicked out when the looks fade? 😉
