Drugs have no appeal to me whatsoever. Generically, drug addicts are unhappy with their existences and seek to escape reality through artificial means. I quite enjoy my real life and have no interest in “escaping” it.
I’ve never had an illegal drug, including pot, although I support the legalization of all drugs. I didn’t start drinking until I was 34, and do occasionally like to have a few beers. I’ve never been shitfaced. But getting a moderate buzz going in the presence of entertaining company is one of life’s pleasures. Moderation in all things. Including moderation.[/quote]
But if it’s pleasure you’re after (because life has no point), it’s all just a matter of brain chemistry. Whether you have an abundance of dopamine and norepinephrine provided by drugs or by a few beers and “entertaining” company, it’s all essentially the same.
