That chart seems to suggest that the rent to price ratio is the lowest it has been in recent history for SD. Perhaps this is the reason demand is so high?

If you count opportunity cost, don’t forget to also count in tax deduction as well. There are plenty of spreadsheet templates out there that counts all of the above and tell you which is cheaper.
