Given that I haven’t invested a dime in either real estate or the stock market, the future looks great to me! My dollars are worth more every single day.
I also work in higher ed, which is pretty much disconnected from the economy. I make the same regardless of whether its a bull or a bear market.
Edit: I’ll add that if you are an older IT worker, University and Government is a great place to work. The pace is slower and less competitive and the benefits are great. The pay isn’t always the best, but I have a feeling in a year or so its going to be pretty competitive with the private sector.
