[quote=CardiffBaseball]TV went out… 36 inch old timer tube not even a flat screen. Time to upgrade. Good choices I saw at Costco on open models.
$799 – Panasonic Viera 50 Plasma 720P
$799 – Panasonic Viera 46 Plasma 1080P
Man I can’t decide, I like the idea of Plasma for sports, the 720 seems good enough but then again 50 inch screen kind of overtakes my living room. I don’t really watch that many movies as I am just too scatterbrained and distracted with my laptop to put it away for two hours to watch a film. Obviously Blue-Ray is better with the 46. Broadcast and sports are fine on the 50/720P too.
Decisions, Decisions…

The best for sports are the 120hz models. They make 1080/60hz and 1080/120hz so you have to check to see which the model is.
I had an old 36″ Phillips that was at least 15 years old. The sound finally gave out and I still kept for 4 months before I went a bought a new set. I would watch the close captioning.
I went to Best Buy with the idea of getting a 40″ 1080p/120hz but settled on a 32″ Samsung 720/60hz for $549 + tax etc.
They make such good stuff these days you probably can’t go wrong.
