Survival of the human race is a bit abstract. I don’t think most women have kids out of a sense of duty to keep the human species from going extinct. (Not that there’s any danger of that. Which other large mammals number over 5 billion?) They do it because they want it, just as the man “does it” because he wants it. I don’t see either as being superior or selfless, although both have consequences that involve (different) personal sacrifices.
