CA-dreamin – my favorites are vastly different from many others. It really boils down to what things are important to you. I recommend making a list of criteria that you absolutely want and a list of extras you’d like to have. Helps also to have a list of what you don’t want. That helps you eliminate areas and properties that you have no interest in.
What is important to me could be insignificant to someone else. And also what is critical to someone else, for example, schools, is not a factor for me, since I have no kids and will have no kids in the future. I guess I should be concerned about resale and that should be considered if you don’t plan on being there a while.
