[quote=briansd1]Would you rather have political correctness, measured and considerate discourse, or mean-spirited loud-mouths?
Talk about idiocracy, or “a uniformly stupid human society devoid of intellectual curiosity, social responsibility, and coherent notions of justice and human rights.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idiocracy%5B/quote%5D
Brian,
Are you suggesting that the PC crowd is engaging in measured and considerate discourse when they try to shout down their detractors with labels like “racist” or “xenophobe” or “hater,” etc.?
Funny, I’ve heard very few pro-illegal immigration folks address the issue in a logical, fact-based way. Never have I heard them admit that many Americans are very negatively affected by illegal immigration (especially those who have to compete in the workplace with illegal immigrants), or that illegal immigrants are disproportionately responsible for neighborhood degradation, criminal activity, gangs, etc. I’ve never heard one admit that illegal immigrants place a tremendous burden on our social, legal, and physical infrastructure.
BTW, I’ll be the first to admit that it is the *employers* who are the primary problem; illegal immigrants are secondary, and we should address the illegal immigration problem mostly by enforcing laws against employers.
We can’t have measured and considerate discourse without honesty.
