[quote=briansd1]Would you rather have political correctness, measured and considerate discourse, or mean-spirited loud-mouths?
Talk about idiocracy, or “a uniformly stupid human society devoid of intellectual curiosity, social responsibility, and coherent notions of justice and human rights.” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Idiocracy%5B/quote%5D
Brian: I hate to break this to you, dude, but Political Correctness DETRACTS from dialogue and discourse, it does NOT contribute to it.
When one attempts to constrain speech through the imposition of “right” versus “wrong” words, one also attempts to impose a false set of rules to that same speech. Those that control the language, control the control. And, to Leftists, this is what it’s all about.
Do yourself a favor and read Arthur Koestler’s “Darkness at Noon.” You want to establish the link and the lineage to Political Correctness? Look no further than Lenin, Stalin and Co.
I don’t want YOUR rules, Brian, and I don’t want YOUR speech, or YOUR sense of what comprises right and wrong. That’s the whole point to liberty. I do what I want and you do what you want and as long as neither impinges on the other’s rights, we’ll be fine.
