Great idea to ban junk food in school.
I watched the new Need to Know show on PBS and they had clips from the 1960s. People were actually thin back then. Look at the people now.
I’ll bet it has way more to do with the fact that we didn’t have home computers and there were no video games “back in the good ol’ days.” We had a handful of channels on TV, and you had to get up to turn the knob and change the channel. Kids were also allowed (even forced!!!) to go outside and play all day — and they did so without any parental supervision.
From what I can remember of my childhood, we ate at least as much crap then as kids do now. I’d even say we probably ate worse — white Wonder bread and bologna sandwiches with “pasturized, processed American cheese food substitute” (A.K.A.: American cheese), and a layer of mayonnaise , anyone? Finish that off with some of that Hawaiian punch (from concentrate), and we were back to playing.
IMHO, it is ALL about the exercise — or lack of it, as the case may be today.
