Yep, you’re probably right. Even with just a BSN/RN she’d make $70K for starters in the Bay Area. I personally prefer NPs over doctors…in my experience, they always spend more time with you. Because of my health insurance, I use Sharp here in San Diego. I went a week ago to a new doctor and was called in by a woman who said, “I’m Jane, Dr. BlahBlah’s nurse.” While questioning me, I blabbered about my daughter becoming a nurse and I asked “Jane” where she’d gone to nursing school. Can’t remember what she said, but it was the health care equivalent of DeVry (sp?). In other words, she was not a nurse, she was a nurse’s aid or whatever. This led me to believe that Sharp is being cheap or can’t attract RNs. Jane was perfectly competent, BTW.
