I have a friend who works at Novatel and while they’re testing their MiFi hotspot for Verizon LTE, they say they can consistently get 25Mb down and 10Mb up. So, I think they are capping at 15Mb down and 5Mb. I’m getting the same speed at 1 bar and 5 bars.[/quote]
So here is the thing about capping bandwidth. While this works just find for landline networks it has negative affect in a RF enviroment. When a device makes a request for data it turns its radio on. This causes interference to the system and other handset in the local area. If you can serve the mobile as quickly possible and get the device off the air interface it improves conditions (and hence through-puts)of all other devices so it makes makes no sense to cap the device and have it waiting around for data. We figured this one out a while ago that throttling ppl makes little since.
Of course there could be something else going on like the amount of bandwidth at your particular site. If it is a low usage site they may only have a 20 Meg pipe or something like that… Not all sites get preimum bandwith service to them.
Also I know that netflix is coming out with the app for Droid but they have not committed to a
date yet and this makes panda very sad…
