Although I can see how these types of doors could be prone to failure, have had clearview on 2 doors for 4 years, works great, no repairs. Even if I have to repair them every 5 years, I still prefer it to a screen door. The kids and dogs have walked into them maybe 5 or 6 times, but they just retract and it hasn’t been a problem. They are the slow retracting type. I’m not recommending clearview at all, but any type with the slower retracting would be preferable if you have kids.
