Speaking of “Duke” Cunningham: He was a fighter ace in the F-4 Phantom and that is no small achievement, especially when going up against the more maneuverable MiG 17s, 19s and 21s that the North Vietnamese flew.

I though he flew the F-103 but DrBroom corrects me and I looked up on internet and read about the XF-103. There was something about Bush’s rating in the F-106 though. I will have do some research.
Fwiw ,my father was a Captain in the ANG when Bush was at Maxwell and handled payroll, Administrative duties. My Father also had a top secret crypto clearance from his days in communications.
My Father was interviewed by LA Times, NY Times etc back when Rather fabricated documents meant to discredit Bush.
My Father told them that in the military that if you are receiving duty pay that you are on duty. The Times didn’t like that and dropped my Father as someone that could get dirt on Bush about.
As a side note, my father never met ANY of the pilots. They stayed in a separate facility on base and were too snobby to mix with regular AF personnel. They kept to themselves.
I saw a Military Channel deal on Cunningham. He risked his life to save another pilot. This guy is a true hero.
