I used to live in NorCal when I was a kid, had several friends who lived just down the street from that house. Believe me, the view to the north and east is absolutely amazing on a spring morning. Part of me would love to buy that place … it’s only about 80% out of my price range 🙂 But now I’m too settled in So Cal to move back.
From the pictures it seems beautiful, and impeccably maintained. But it’s probably all but uninsulated, heats up like a ****** in summer, and costs a small fortune to heat in winter … and yeah, builders cut corners even in 1971, so who knows what you’d find?
I’ll enjoy my O’Side tract house and reminisce of all those beautiful summer evenings spent choking on exhaust fumes on the 101 🙂
AK, I am seriously considering retiring in Norcal. I don’t think the popular “San Rafael” listing you posted here is subject to fumes from “the 101”.
The air in NoCal is not only colder than SD County for the majority of the year, it is basically clean in that it blows off the ocean in this particular area. IMO, additional “R-30” insulation doesn’t cost jack sh!t in comparison to the “lifestyle” this particular locale offers in comparison to SD Co.
If what you say is true, let it roll and bring on the isulation installers. I’ll be there to “supervise” . . . lol!
