Stewart is a comedian. I hate how he pretends to know about the stock market and politics. He’s witty and quick with words but knows nothing.
It’s easy to blow him off as a “comedian” but it says a lot when a “comedy” show asks more important questions than the “news” shows out there. It’s no wonder why the younger generations get their news from Stewart and Colbert rather than Blitzer, Williams, or Couric.
Stewart may “know nothing,” but at least he has the balls to ask the questions to rectify his know-nothingness.
Agreed. John Stewart may not “know” a lot about the details, but he’s got the big picture nailed down exactly right here.
I would, however, say that this is another pretty strong contrary indicator for the market. I’ve said over the years (among other things) that, “We’ll know we’re at the bottom when Mad Money is off the air.” Although this interview doesn’t suggest that the show’s getting cancelled, it’s a very public rebuke of the whole “stock investing as entertainment” meme. And Cramer so much as admitted that he should try to do a better job of making it less “silly” (that’s my word). That’s a pretty strong contrary indicator.
