A coyote crossed the trail in front of me while riding a mountain bike on Sycamore Canyon in the same place twice (on my way out and way back). I think it was it’s hunting spot. It was probably only 40 lbs, but was incredibly fast and definitely got my adrenaline pumping. I would not want to run into a 70+ lb coyote.
One of my college’s lives near Escondido and told me that a coyote jumped over a five foot fence into his neighbors yard and it killed his neighbors small dog. Sad.
