It depends, but is certainly not out of the question. If the SAHD had a decent career or was on a particular career trajectory beforehand which would be difficult to get back into (and make the same money as if he didn’t stay out of the workforce), then permanent alimony would be fair, IMO. It’s not about sex/gender, it’s about the nature of two different types of sacrifices/risks and work.
