I think you are right, there may be a splinter, the moderate democrats and moderate republicans could form a new moderate party. I’ve been in it most of my life but it never had a name or a convention. That’s really what Ross represented for me, he was the most legitimate 3rd party candidate I had ever seen. But it slipped away.
California already has the splinter going right now, they have three parties in state politics, the republicans, the progressives and the “mods.” Today the Mods are moderate democrats but that could change. It reminds me of the UK, or all the other first world countries for that matter. Maybe Ross’ legacy will come to pass.
