The only reason a comment from a random internet poster (and, by definition, someone you don’t know personally) would have “bothered you greatly” is if it hit a nerve… and only you know why that’s the case. I could only speculate.

I wouldn’t have used “just drop it” until you said you can’t be offended – so You asked for it. You can speculate all you want. Our families haunt us for NOT keeping us with Joneses – and they know us infinitely better than you. So it bothered me that somehow I gave you that impression and I wondered how, if at all, I misrepresented myself.
