Thanks DA we too are keeping our eye on this area too as it appears Solana Beach has a nice vibe but still puzzled by the lack of updated interiors?? Large lot sizes are a plus for sure!! (I think it was Sduuuuude who said “I like big lots and I can not lie”… which made me LOL!!
We are also thinking about Point Loma-Sunset Cliffs to be specific-have you thought about or looked there?

I personally will be looking for an outdated decor in that SB neighborhood at a discount so we can do our own updates. I plan to hang on for a few more years and see where prices go. Hopefully down by nice chunk.
I am not looking at the PL area. I am very familiar with it and just not a big fan overall.
I have always been a guy who vowed to never buy into the “soul-less” stucco box tract world and instead I planned on living in MH or LJ. Over the past year I have come around a little now that I have a kid. I grew up in two different tract-type developments on the East coast in the 60’s/70’s/80’s and it was such a great environment having tons of kids in the neighborhood with many many families in the same boat as us. I’m starting to think more about wanting to put my kid in that type of environment. I have friends in Scripps Ranch and CV that succumbed to the lure of tract-world and they found many perks associated by being surrounded by many people in the same stage of life.
So based on that I have also been keeping an eye on CV and Scripps. I think you get way more for your money in SR and I doubt I will be willing to pay the premium that CV currently commands. I have also been watching several neighborhoods in Encinintas, like Encinitas Estates and the neighborhood NE of El Camino/Encinitas Blvd. Encinitas Estates looks kind of like a poor man’s version of the SB neighborhood I am watching.
It continues to be an odd market here IMHO, not alot of stellar inventory, gov’t intervention, manipulation of distressed properties, the list of moving parts goes on. I have personally not been able to conjure up a good reason to enter into such a strange market at this time, instead opting to watch the show and see where things go.
