I wonder where we could find fatality record per 100 million miles driven for each vehicle. I remember seeing this type of data online a few years ago and now I couldn’t find it again. I think it would be a much fairer comparison on car safety instead of just personal opinions.

I found a good report, check out page 9 which shows fatality risk to drivers and drivers of other vehicles per car model. Note the three Toyota cars shown (Camry, Avalon, and Corolla) have better safety record compare to other vehicles in similar class. On the other hand, 4Runner fatality risk is high. I think probably because of rollerover risk because it is a tall and relatively narrow vehicle.
