Ah, that’s actually not the case Mr. bob’07. When I moved to SD back in ’97 it was my goal and my intention to live there forever. Even back then the cost of living was just a bit out of reach so I decided to go back to the university, get my degree, and THEN I would be able to get a decent home and live there forever… But the housing boom doubled prices, and doubled them again to where I STILL couldn’t afford a decent place even after I got a better job.
So, I had to go to plan B. And so far this plan B is working even better than I expected. Now, I plan to pay off this Kansas house in the next several years, and my hope is that by that time SD prices will be back to below normal, and then buy a second house (or condo, who know’s) back in SD. I came to find out I love Kansas in many ways, haven’t seen any communists living here. 🙂 I feel more comfortable that way. And ironically enough, they don’t have many state fiscal problems here either.
I do still love SD in other ways too. I hope to come back some day if CA gets back to what it can be. It really is a small world these days.
