Near coastal would most likely be the choice. Seeking a bedroom community,with homes on large leafy lots with what I call “buffers”,(strict zoning, open space, golf courses,etc.),but also proximity to some “cosmopolitan” areas for dining, shopping, cultural activities, (La Jolla, Del Mar ?). Have no problem with older homes, location and lot size being paramount while McMansion cookie-cutter developments a no-no. Commute and fees a non-issue, primarily interested in lifestyle and surroundings/location, not just shelter. For purposes of comparison, currently live in North Scottsdale, AZ.,(if anyone familiar),which offers a few of the “environmentals” desired in SD area, but of course not as good as SD, in my opinion.
