Fear.
Perhaps justified fear.
I want social justice, but i dont want to lose too much.
There’re only statues.
They had the opportunity to do the right thing and remove them years ago. Doing it now is admission that the statues are decisive and were meant to divide from the beginning.
Some of the thing we as a society do are so stupid. Fully integrating the economy and implementing better social policies would have resulted in so much more wealth for everyone.
In hindsight it was really dumb for the NFL to ban kneeling. It was dumb to keep the statues up. The world changes and we have to adapt. Not adapting causes pressure to build and we have mass protests today.
Now Trump is fighting to keep US based named for failed confederates. What’s they point? It might help Trump with his voters, but keeping the names is a lost cause.
The whole Jim Crow keeping Blacks down was so stupid in a capitalist sense. If Blacks were as rich and integrated as Whites, GDP would be so much greater and stocks would be more valuable.
