You’re missing the forest for the trees. Of course there are successful people out there who had a tough road. I am one of them! I’m not saying it’s not possible. Where did I say that? You don’t know me, where I came from, or what I’ve accomplished, so can we avoid making baseless accusations please? Can we return to the discussion at hand rather that resorting to personal attacks? Last I checked, personal attacks mean you don’t have a leg to stand on in an argument. Unless you can provide a valid defense of your argument, get out of the way so that civilized people can continue the discussion.
Anyway, back to reality here, of course there are successful people in this world who have come from difficult circumstances. I am one of them. And I received no hand outs from either my family or my country. I am proud of my accomplishments.
That said, you can’t deny that there’s something wrong with the fact that Richie Rich can ride through college and into the cushy country clubs and BMWs based not on his own merits, but on his last name and his parents’ bank account. That is the very definition of aristocracy, and is the antithesis of what America is all about.
Now if you’d like to provide a well thought out and respectful counter-argument to my post, please do. I’m all ears.
