Normally, this report would have been done by Wednesday – COB (that’s Close of Business, for all you folks not accustomed to working with acronyms), but it’s been a hectic week for me. Yes, I still need to work…Because you freeloaders apparently aren’t helping me…. As such, don’t forget to click on the subscribe button here….

This week’s theme is called: “The Piggington Life Isn’t Fair Edition”. Yes, that’s right. You might think, as a fiscally responsible Pigg, you deserve breaks in life…You might think you have certain entitlements because of your fiscal responsibility-ness…You deserve the very best, your deserve beachfront property at 50% off. And others that pissed away their savings don’t deserve what you should get…Well, guess what? To damn bad… You’re S.O.L. Today, we’ll explore the concept of Life Isn’t Fair.
1. Dine and Eat Like a Fireman
For all you W2 salary slaves, you were probably dreaming of that killer home with a kitchen with custom appliances, upgraded granite, and killer ass view…Well guess what? To damn bad… Because chances are you’re getting reamed paying taxes supporting all those killer city buildings and fire stations.
In this thread, like just about every other thread, we discuss how to properly evaluate how much public employees should be compensated. Maybe they should have cutting edge buildings and facilities. Maybe the shouldn’t. Maybe they deserve it because the public sector innovates quicker than the private sector. Maybe the private sector does. We also discuss what is the “correct” number of hours public employees should work. We also discuss whether real estate professionals deserve an ocean front office more or less so than a fireman…FLU is trying to figure out how a Carlsbad fire station can have a nicer kitchen than his own pad. pri_dk eventually refocuses the discussion on private money versus taxpayer money, before we are led back to a discussion of capitalism versus socialism…
Our long time piggs lead us down a discussion about the economy and why we got ourselves into this mess. Some blame this mess on the the bankers. Some piggs think it’s the unions and public employees. For some, they don’t care because the taxpayers get screwed either way! But anyway, the point is that we are led down a devolved discussion about unions and their political influence… Then again maybe not… Then again, maybe… Well, the point is this…If you don’t like the cronyism in CA, too damn bad….Welcome to California, now go home…
3. Are you a privileged American, citizen, taxpayer, or combination thereof?
We’re trying to figure out what it means to be a “privileged American”. Some think the definition is in the Constitution, specifically Amendment #14. Others think it’s related to how much you pay in taxes. At any rate, we’re are led down a discussion that first attempts to address this very question, but then devolves into a pissing match on who pays what taxes and who doesn’t. Some think 50% of americans don’t pay taxes. Some think they do. At any rate, we are lead into a pseudo right versus left slapfest, with some indicating Pelosi is flithy rich and others indicating the GOP is idiotic.
4. Pssssssssssssss…. I hear Santee is sold out…Again….
Long time Santee cheerleader and Santee pitchman has done it again…This week, our guest contributor has updated the recent sales/comps of Santee. Haven’t you heard? Santee is sold out. ….Again…..And it’s still 10 minutes to La Jolla….
Every week, we present a new house project and ask the same question. “Will it sell?” (Just like last week)
Today’s feature property: Mira Mesa – Bannister Ln
We’re trying to figure out if this home on Bannister Lane is a good deal around $400k. We began our discussion by trying to determine why this property dropped in price by $50k… But then we quickly devolved into a discussion in estimating the “worth” of Mira Mesa property, specifically whether this one is worth $400k. Some think $400k is ridiculous. Some suggested $300k is more reasonable. Others feel at $300k, it’s a steal. Our Leading Experts That Don’t Live in the Area (LETDLITA) chime in again on MM versus other comparable areas, such as Chula Vista….Some think it’s comparable. Others think it’s not. But the bottom line is that FLU and AN are at each others throat, because apparently FLU has now invaded into AN’s home turf, and some has branded him an MM partial/expert (I don’t know why), so AN can no longer claim that title alone….(Sorry AN, life isn’t fair…)
*Edit* Since posting our initial weekly report, we have ventured off into discussing the relative worth of SFH in San Marcos and Chula Vista. Some think a dumpster area will affect property value some thing it won’t. Then again maybe… At any rate, FLU is insisting that people use “CV” to designate “Carmel Valley” while “cv” is used for Chula Vista….Svelte thinks otherwise, and should be context dependent, just like “CA” means California in some context, and then in other context, it can mean something called “Canada”. What’s Canada, btw?
Just for the record, when speaking of public employees and their thug unions, I also throw utility workers in the same boat. In fact, utility workers probably have it better than public employees (I know, that’s hard to imagine); well at least based on my utility bills that’s my hypothesis.

I agree with paramount because out here Otay Water has life time medical for them and their families and even though most of us have cut back on water use drastically, the bills magically always increase!
