Hopefully the dog’s coat isn’t the only factor on the dog you choose. A Wiemerarner, while sleek and athletic and graceful, is incredibly difficult to train (or at least it takes a very dedicated owner)… some dogs are good with kids, some are not, some are good with other animals, some are not… some need lots of space and some do not… we have an English Mastiff that needs much less space than a retriever (even though she is twice the size). She sleeps on the bed and my legs fall asleep everynight because of her heavy head on them… but she is good with other dogs, great with kids, and very protective of her family.
so coat is only one thing….. don’t forget to also research health issues with breed (like hip dysplasia, eye and skin problems, etc). It could save you much headache in the future, definately much more than a dirty couch.
