30K a year. One way commute 30K a year. One way commute is about 80 miles. Driving 3 days a week. Telecommute 1 or 2 days a week, sometimes staying at my sister’s house in OC.
LOL, you guys will jump on me for keeping America dependent on foreign oil but I love my job in OC and can’t find any thing better in San Diego.

I fit in the standard I fit in the standard commuter catagory at the low end. I take 2 people to work and 2 people to college so I think that’s actually pretty good.

Did you only want to know how Did you only want to know how much people drive or how much they drive on their own dime, some people’s jobs involve driving, some people have company cars and gas and others operate vehicles as part of their job.

This was mostly a follow TG-
This was mostly a follow up to FLU’s poll, but for a reason. I was in jury duty a few weeks ago, and while bored out of my mind waiting, I started talking to the guy behind me. He said that he spends $1600 a month on his car! I was like, WOW!gas, insurance, maintaince, car payment it all adds up but that is alot of money just to be able to drive a car.
When I saw flu’s posts it kinda came back to me and I was wondering how many people are in his boat. Ill bet you I use less gas a week (spend less $$$)in my pickup than a majority of people in SOCal who drive cars, simply because I drive fewer miles in a year.(add in less insurance, less wear and tear, fewer maintaince issues… again it adds up. )
I hadnt considered a company paying for you, but I guess you really pay that anyways, it is just part of your compensation.
And to relate this to RE since this is a RE site and I am sure some people are annoyed this is even up here, Demand will change with the cost of gas/transportation. If people are no longer willing to drive from IE to downtown anymore to work, then IE is gonna have even less demand,…. and regional areas in SD will have more demand than expected. Just trying to get a handle on this aspect of RE.

Lol. I’d rather hear again about how you made $500k on selling your home in Valencia, what a pain in the ass it was to keep switching rentals, how when you graduated sdsu 20 years ago, that you thought anyone who’s anyone could get in, but now that your daughter goes there, it’s only for “smarter” people. But you stopped sharing.
Of course, don’t take me seriously, because I’m just giving you a sh!t…. no malice intended.

Fatso, I did make 500k off my home in Valencia, I am on my 3rd rental, never went to SDSU (UOP), daughter just graduated from HS and will go to TCU. Your “hard” driving has scrambled your fat mind! What I said about SDSU is that 30 years ago somebody like myself (average student) could get in, now there are over 50,000 applicants. btw my daughter did get accepted there. Slow down.

Why would anyone drive to
Why would anyone drive to Down town SD from IE to work,
Why would you not just catch a train in Oceanside or the Bus at the 76.
I guess van pools and satellite offices are an LA thing.
