People, wake up: this bill has absolutely nothing to do with the care of our health.
This is a stealth tax increase to pay for the trillions in bailout dollars that have been heaped upon the backs of Americans for the past 24 months.
I said the exact same thing here just recently. Our government needs a new source of revenue. There are 15 new tax increases proposed, 15.
1)a 5% tax plastic surgery
2) a 40% excise tax on high cost employer-sponsored health coverage
3) a 5 to 10% Increase in additional tax on distributions from HSAs and Archer MSAs not used for qualified medical expenses
4)A $50,000 tax on failing hospitals
5)An annual fee on medical device manufacturers and importers
6)An annual fee on branded prescription pharmaceutical manufacturers and importers
7)An additional .05 % hospital insurance tax on high-income taxpayers making on a joint return over $250,000 and a standard return over $200,000
8)A 10% tax on indoor tanning
9) A 1% tax increase for individuals making between $350,000 and $500,000.
10)A 1.5% tax increase for individuals making between $500,000 and $1 million.
11) A 5.4% increase for individuals making more than $1 million.
12)A 2.5% income tax on individuals who do not have health care coverage, limited to a cost less than the average national health care premium.
13) For self-insured plans, a fee on the the sponsor whether that is the employer or the employee organization. Also, a fee on the issuer of every health care plan imposed.
14)For firms refusing to pay health insurance, but not meeting required exclusions, an 8% tax on wages will be applied.
15) A 5.4% increase for individuals making more than $1 million.
This is also precisely whey the costs of this bill are being front-loaded for 4 years. Would you pre-pay co-pays to your doctor for 4 years? No. By the time 2014 rolls around, our debt will be so severe that there’s no way in hell there will be any money left in the health care *lockbox*. Peter will be robbed to pay Paul, and we’re Peter.
Exactly, they are going to tax us then fill that little box with worthless IOU’s just like they did with social security.

March 13, 2010 at 9:00 AM in reply to: OT: Health Care in Mexico vs. U.S. (related to “Father is visiting and hospitalized…”) #525217WickedheartParticipant
Don’t get me started on veterinarians.
They just try to upsell, upsell and upsell. They perform unnecessary services such as blood work on the poor animals. They push unnecessary pills at exorbitant prices.
I don’t think most vets are getting rich on what they charge.
I’ve said NO several times so the Vet doesn’t like me much.
Most vets have been very understanding of my pocketbook and give me several options for care. Let’s face it when you take your animal to the vet it’s going to cost you. No point in getting mad about it. Did they try to guilt trip you? Then I don’t blame you for being pissed off, find a new vet.
My dog is perfectly healthy (14 years old) and I don’t take him for checkups as recommended. I scrape his teeth myself. I buy the vaccines at the pet supply store and I vaccine the dog myself.
Most pets are over vaccinated. Yearly vaccinations are over kill. People don’t get vaccinated every year. Your dog probably doesn’t even need to be vaccinated except for rabies at this point. I always go with the 3 year rabies.
I expect my dog to live to at least 18, but when he’s too old and too sick, I’ll take him to the pound in Mission Valley and practice some health care rationing myself.
I got news for you. It’s not that simple they require a letter from your vet stating the animal needs to be put down, seriously.
I know people who take their pets to Mexico for veterinary services — much cheaper and better.
I’m not ready to go to Mexico to the vet but I order my cats inhaled meds from Canada for a fraction of the US cost. I don’t know the US cost for the inhalers now but when I first filled Mr Kitty’s prescription 1-50mcg Flovent inhaler cost $80 dollars at Costco and 3-125mcg Flovent inhalers (twice the US strength) from Canada were $125. I could order that exact same drug in twice that strength (250mcg) from Vanatu right now 3 inhalers for $120.

WickedheartParticipantNot only do you have the right to 24 hour notice for showing. Showings have to be during normal business hours. That means Monday though Friday 9-5 and no weekends.
Seriously, I’d work on finding a new place soon. Most RE agents were nice and professional but living in a house while it is on the market is a PITA. My phone rang off the hook. People tried to come in off the street without an agent. One agent couldn’t get a hold of me and came without an appointment while I was gone. She had a fit when my 17 year old daughter didn’t let her in. Whatever you do don’t agree to a lockbox.
