This is very close to the type of house I will buy in 2010 or 2011. Any thoughts on future value? I am hoping for $800-$850 which seems in the bag.
I am too optimistic or does anyone else see a home like this for $800K in 2-3 years?
Not too optimistic at all. I’m guessing you’ll see similar homes for $800-850k in fall/winter of 2009. I wouldn’t buy it for that either, because you may see it less than $700k by 2011-12.

RenParticipant
So she won’t even look at housing for another year or so.. I like to browse.. she sees it as a waste of time because we aren’t buying anyway.. ugh..
Do you guys still browse? I think it’s important to keep browsing to keep an eye on things.. What do you think?
My wife was on my case all the time about buying back in 2006, but I showed her the light. Now we both go browsing, just to check out different neighborhoods and floorplans. That way we’ll be much better prepared when we do buy. Think of it as research.
At the open house, I’ve learned to never tell the agent “we’re waiting for the market to come down a little more,” because you’ll then get the condescending “now is the time” speech and have to stand there and either defend your position or nod stupidly while they spew propaganda. Better to just say you’re not serious yet, then they leave you alone.
