Also just because something is “made in China” doesn’t mean the profit from it isn’t going to an American company…

I’m not so sure about that. I don’t want lots of money to be kept in America. I want it to go away. The dollar may be stronger this way. We can either flood the US with dollars or we can spread them around the world. I don’t know if this makes sense.American companies will do whatever it takes to increase their profit margin, I understand this and don’t feel any particular favoritism/loyalty/patriotism or whatever. This is all marketing to emotions.
Foreign products are levied with taxes and tariffs and are still able to compete here. Von’s wouldn’t sell them if they didn’t get any profit from it.
Anyhow, it’s a worthwhile experiment, I just don’t think the outcome will be as you expect.

nostradamusParticipantmustang… if you don’t mind +/- 15% margin of sway on your suspension and steering it’s all good and you’ll look cool… π My first car was the Mustang GT 5.0 T-top. I’m lucky to be alive!

nostradamusParticipantLOL. American cars had a lot going for them, in that the patriotic US population would always favor them. All they had to do was make a decent product. They didn’t. When it comes down to it, people need to get to/from work reliably. I owned a Ford then a Chevy, then I crossed to Japanese cars and will never go back. Just way too much hassle. Almost everyone in my family had the same experience since my Dad was a Chevy fan. We were all for American cars… until we drove Japanese cars and realized that the only thing going for American cars was patriotic bs hype.
