ParticipantI’m not saying that it isn’t a poor design or that floor mats caused the problem. Something did but I don’t think that it was a stuck accelerator. I just keep coming back to the point that you can’t overcome the brakes on a modern car. The Lexus they were driving doesn’t have the kind of power necessary to do that and the brakes weren’t drive-by-wire. I’ve got a 505 HP corvette and I cant overcome the brakes on it. (Yes I’ve tried, just to see how much tire smoke we could develop.)

Even though he was a CHP officer, they are not gods. I am saddened by his and his families demise, but anyone can make a fatal error.
