eavesdropperParticipant
scaredycat, I hear you. Have you tried an electric cattle prod? Farm implements, Tractor Supply.
Disclaimer: I am kidding. Seriously. But I admit to dreaming about it while raising my own.
On the SN thing, I’m with you. Can you imagine what hell a kid’s life must be at school after his family’s been on Supernanny or Dr. Phil, or some other show where the ancestral deep, dark secrets have been revealed?
eavesdropperParticipantucodegen, I agree with you that pix don’t belong here. They can still be accessed by using this link:
I believe your statement about them hoping for sympathy is spot-on. However, I doubt that they’ve gotten the message that they’re not victims in this situation. In Lisa’s rant, she appears to say that the bank that originated the loan went out of business after construction was completed, and that they were forced into the higher interest rate with NCB. However, a closer examination of the article reveals that, in Nov 2006, they were approved for the mortgage with Temecula Valley Bank, who brokered it to NCB. Construction began in March 2007 with a $1.5 million construction loan from NCB. There was plenty of time for them to pull out of this “predatory” loan prior to construction.
The Danielses have created this alternate reality for themselves in which they are the victims. I have no doubt that, twenty years from now, they’ll still be holding fast to that myth. I do, however, agree with Lisa’s statement, “There was fraud.” I don’t necessarily concur with her perception of the origin of that fraud.

eavesdropperParticipantScaredycat, I’m fairly sure the Sherry Lane house is where the Supernanny episode was filmed, and it does, indeed, have a pool. A nice one, with one of those rock waterfall slides. It figured significantly in the episode: 8 year old Alexus was playing in the pool, and wouldn’t get out when Mom told her to. So Lisa left her there – “What am I supposed to do? Jump in and get her out?” I knew there was no hope when SN had to respond, “Yes, that’s exactly what you’re supposed to do. It’s called parenting”.
So keep in mind that if you buy the property with the pool, which according to the article will be going up for foreclosure auction any day, you’re going to have to deal with the monumental task of getting your kids out of the pool when they refuse to listen to you.
Oh, the horror!

eavesdropperParticipantBTW, it appears that Lisa realized that the unwashed masses (namely, us) are looking over the photos of the house that she had posted on mySpace, and has removed the direct access to them (you now have to log in before you can view them).
Why, oh why won’t she share just a little bit of the glamour with those of us who have none in our lives?
