I think those days are over, bb are so burned out and broke that land and a big house are the last thing they are looking for, especially in CA.

ParticipantI am starting to see many in the 45-55 year old bracket losing their jobs. They are (were) at their PEAK earning years but also PEAK expense years, high mortgage, cars, kids college, etc. They were saving some, trying to get the kids through college, pay off bills, and then sell the house for a big gain and downsize. Now, they are screwed, none can find a job and the bills just keep on coming. Health insurance cost as much as they get in unemployment benefits. I don’t see much hope in the future for them.
