CritterParticipant
She doesn’t think the money the state has given her already is welfare, and she claims she won’t need any in the future since she is going back to college to get her master’s degree in counseling. The kids will be taken care of at the college day care center.
Flaws with this thinking:
1) Day care centers at some Calif. colleges are funded by taxpayers – this is another example of a hand-out
2) She is not raising her kids if they are in day care centers all day
3) She already has $50K in outstanding student loans. What bank will loan more to her? Another hand-out which will not be repaid
4) Biggest flaw – who would hire her as a counselor when she graduates? Her judgement is proven to be seriously hampered by her life choices so far.
5) How can she study at night with 14 kids wanting dinner, baths, and bedtime stories?BTW, she now has a website up begging for donations. I can’t figure out if she is mentally ill, selfish, financially challenged, expecting her kids to cure her depression, or all of the above. I just wish she didn’t live in CA or indeed, anywhere in the US.

CritterParticipantHow to NOT win friends and influence people:
I notice that no one on this site seems to know anything about real estate.
It’s a wonder anyone bothered responding to a comment that begins with a global insult. RickT, you may also consider a paragraph break every two-three sentences instead a long-winded and difficult to read block of text.

CritterParticipantWhat about the OP’s math? He states he can buy properties where the rent “easily” covers 5% of the purchase price. So, a $500K home would rent for $25K.
What am I missing? Is he talking yearly or monthly… I always thought rent calcs should be figured monthly.
