Frequent motorist in certain “flyover states.”[/quote]
BG, you should fly.
I’m planning to fly to Bloomington, IN later this year to visit a cousin who lives in one of those rare liveable enclaves in those flyover states.

As somebody who grew up in Indiana, I found this comment somewhat insulting at first read. There are a lot of good people in Indiana, and for the most part I find them a hell of a lot less superficial than people around here.
With that said, however, the only places I could live in Indiana without being bored to tears are Bloomington and certain northern suburbs of Indianapolis. I probably could live around West Lafayette, only because I am a Purdue alum and could immerse myself in their sports teams and whatnot, but it really isn’t any great shakes.
And out of a high school of fewer than 700 students in my days, I’d bet that somewhere between 50-100 have been in varying levels of trouble due to meth.
Rhett, my cousin is a true Indiana country boy. Unfortunately he was influenced by the Buddhists who populate Bloomimgton. Then he became a bleeding heart liberal. Apparently Bloomington is the ideal place for him except that his wife is from Germany and they love to travel. . The nearest airport is Indianapolis.
They bought a house and I want to see what is so great about Bloomimgton. It’s been rated the best place to live and the best place to retire.
I’m sure they’ll all be just great, just like the people at the DMV. And just like the folks at the DMV, they will be catering only to their immediate bosses who will be unable or unwilling to fire them, unlike the insurance companies.
The fact that you think it will be “better” shows how little you know about government employees.
“Everything the government touches turns to shit.”
the VA provides decent care.
the doctors there are real doctors.
My dad and all my elderly relatives are on Medicare. They get good Medical care.

Umm, pretty much everyone 65 and older gets Medicare – and some get better care than others.
