The Japanese have always been very arrogant with China and in contrast to Germany they have never apologized for their atrocities of WW2. I think it’s about time for them to come down to earth and issue a formal apology!

September 25, 2010 at 2:45 PM #609325ocrenterParticipantunfortunately the real loser in the round is Taiwan.
The basis of China’s claim is that Diaoyu islets are part of Taiwan. And since in China’s warped mind Taiwan is “part of China” of course Diaoyu islets are part of China.
With the Taiwanese voice completely missing in this issue, the Taiwanese KMT government essentially is acting like a local government.

Maybe a few itchy captains still pissed they got their ass kicked ww2….
Japan is definitely interesting. Imho, it appears there is an air of arrogance that they are superior to everyone else in asia. I think for that reason, it’s why they fail to apologize for atrocities they’ve committed in WW2, and why many countries still view them as the nazi’s in asian. (At least the German’s have formally apologized)…
It’s always interesting to observe tourists behavior from Japan when they are in asia (China,Taiwan, etc) versus when they are here in the U.S. In asia, they they are the loudest, most obnoxious arrogant pricks in public. And then when they’re here in the U.S., they are the quite, meekest tourists…Probably because they realize they got their ass kicked by us.
Also, not sure if folks are aware, but Japan is the home of some of the sickest most sadistic sex shit…Just take a look at the p0rn culture featuring assaults/rape/etc…I don’t know, but I think you got serious sadistic supression going on there, that sort of showed it’s true colors during WW2.. The accounts of what happened @ nanking are just appalling, considerably worse than the germans.
For folks unaware of the shit that went on:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanking_MassacreIt’s unfortunate that China’s government is what it is…China (the country) has always been the underdog that got kicked around, both by western civilization and by other asian nations throughout history….
Look no further than the Opium War.

when china fought against the British over Brit drug trafficing. China got their ass kicked, and that’s why a lot of the ancient art/etc are in British museums etc. Not to mention the Brit’s burned a lot of the historical sites in China .
Granted, if the Brit’s didn’t take the stuff, most of it would have been burned by the communists anyway…….But still…And then there was periods mired with conflict. First with the fall of the dynasties, then the internal conflict between the nationalist and the communist…And then Japan overrunning the country….And then the backasswardness of over the next decades under rule by the Mao and the communists…. Wave after wave of suffering and internal struggle. It’s really no surprise why things are so screwed up there and why individual human life isn’t valued….Contract that to the U.S. has been pretty much immune to the turmoil, being in this part of the world. To some extent, part of me feels sorry for China (the people, not the government)… Over the past century, the people in China really got beaten up over things.
And the sad part…For the majority of people there, they are still struggling as peasants…Regarding Taiwan, if you asked native Taiwanese, most of them got along better with Japanese than the KMT(nationalist party). The Qing Empire surrendered Taiwan to Japan as a result of the a loss in the Sino-Japanese War and ruled Taiwan for about 50 years, during which Japan was credited for building up Taiwan’s economy and raising Taiwan’s standard of living…It’s interesting while the rest of asian might hate japan, Taiwan isn’t one of them…In fact, I’d say some of the older generation Taiwanese hate the KMT more than Japan.
When the KMT fled China for Taiwan, they took over Taiwan via military force, and for the longest time there was nothing “democratic” about KMT. For a very interesting read, look up “228 massacre”..
