Great beautifully written post, Arraya. I agree also.
With respect to “the desire to stifle certain forms of expression”, it’s now my side’s turn to not waste an opportunity.
As Arraya said, we are shaped by our environment. If we change the language and the culture, we can change society.
The Right wants to wage the culture war. Bring it on. I wouldn’t mind eradicating redneck culture.

You mean shape your environment much like Edward Bernays (I’m sure one of you progressive hero’s) would with enlightened despotism? You see, Edward believe humans are much like cattle and unable to make decisions for themselves. They need the elitist progressives to guide them in the right direction. If they don’t move in this direction the progressive will use a cattle prod. All this for their own good of course because they may vote for the wrong person or thing. If the herd doesn’t move after the cattle prod then you have to pick out the “bad” cattle in the herd that may be holding the herd back and eliminate….all for the good of the herd of course.
I hear this rhetoric from the left daily. Idiots like Bill Maher debated that the public should get on board or be dragged kicking and screaming to accept the new healthcare legislation. Those who oppose like Glenn Beck or others should be silenced because they are disrupting the herd. So the left is quick to never let a good crisis go to waste and blame these rebel rouses for the violence of the shooting although they are unable to come up with any evidence of such promotion.
It is this progressive mentality that goes against everything our country stands for. Liberty and individualism.
