They are not all bidding on the same thing. Nobody outbids those pushing the agenda Allan spelled out. It doesn’t matter to that agenda, if Gays or some other social group contributes more to Obama and “right to lifers” contributed to McCain.

That’s exactly my point. There are a shitload of constituencies out there, and it is always a balancing act to please some of the people all of the time while acting like you’re pleasing all of the people all of the time. I just don’t believe that some anonymous flying spaghetti monster is out there pulling all of the strings, despite how dramatic is sounds to claim otherwise. Instead you have a million meatballs all trying to get a piece of the pizza pie. Sometimes the meatballs agree, sometimes they don’t, but they’re all part of the same bowl of spaghetti.
