Enorah,
You sure know how to pick the most beautiful places in California: Guerneville, Encinitas (?) and Ojai! That’s impressive for someone from Chicago. π
Renting does have its advantages, doesn’t it? The ability to just pick up and move, without having to worry about selling a house and whether or not you’re underwater on your mortgage…priceless!
Based on your posts, I think you will really feel at home in Ojai. It’s a very special, beautiful place.
Enjoy your new home! π

I wish all of you the best as we continue to shift and evolve. I feel like we may see some things and experience some things in 2010, similar to what we brought about in 2008. I feel like this time, right now, we are giving ourselves a bit of a breather from all of the chaos. So breathe and see where that takes you.
———————Agree very much with your assessment.

April 11, 2009 at 8:01 AM #379199EnorahParticipantCA Renter, we have received much guidance along the way. For instance, when living in Chicago and deciding to move to CA a client of mine recommended Guerneville based on what our needs were. As it so happened our landlady’s sister was living in Santa Rosa and owned a summer cabin in Forestville (town right next to Guerneville), which we found out once we started to explore the idea of Guereneville.
For this move, we had been thinking we might like Ojai and playing with the idea for some time. A couple of weeks ago we went to “Tomato Mania” at Quail Botanic Gardens. The dude who was running the show spoke at the end of the day, and we arrived just in time to hear him. One of the first things he said was, “My farm is in Ojai”. He was kind enough to speak with us afterward for a long while about living in Ojai.
The next day we met woman who was visiting here from Carpinteria (right near Ojai). We have learned to pay attention over the years when messages repeat. So four days later we drove up to Ojai and found a place to live that afternoon.
I am aware of a natural kind of magic that moves within and throughout all of us. Our lives tend to work beautifully for us when we pay attention to the direction that magic wishes to take us.
Off we go!
