Wow! I completely forgot about Pearl. I don’t remember Dixie Beer or Rebel Yell at all- had to Google it and still don’t remember it.
Do love the BBQ and the little road side stands on the side of the road. BBQ stands and tamale stands. Don’t know if the Health Dept had any jurisdiction, but it sure tasted good. Heck, I wonder if they even exist any more?
I’m also from Houston and then we moved to a little town called Montgomery about a mile north. Love that we had a rodeo team and you could bring your shotgun in your truck at school as long as it was visible on the rack. I think it was like that until I was a Freshman. It was never a political statement- it was just a way of life and a lot of the boys got up early to work on local farms and ranches. Tell your wife a fellow Houston transplant sends their best. Does she miss thunderstorms as much as I?

September 4, 2009 at 12:03 AM #452802CardiffBaseballParticipantYea I miss not having BBQ around here like we did in Texas. I lived in Houston 4-5 days a week for about a year when consulting. 10 months in Clear Lake and 2 months over by the Astrodome and some hospitals (not sure what nabe that was).
Anyway I was in San Antonio on biz back in April. Our software vendor through a big bash each night and there were iced cold Shiner Bocks as far as the eye can see. And of course free… I bought a whole bunch when I got back as I forgot I really liked that stuff. My bud who’s always trying to bring over Stella Artois, when I won a bet I made him pay up in Shiner Bock.
I was back in Cleveland last christmas and had Great Lakes Christmas Ale. Holy crap was that stuff good. About 11.00 or so for a 6-pack though. There I go changing the subject again.
Of course I don’t mind having 1-2 of those Michelob Ultra when I trying to keep the calories low. Allen would vomit at the mere whiff of that piss-water.

Bristol and Levi are back together. Any prediction on how this will end?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/07/14/AR2010071401797.html?hpid=artslotI’m sure Palin’s supporters will support her even more now. This family certainly does have a real American lifestyle full of drama. Good script for a daytime soap.
