Her entire brand was based on the idea that she was tough and principled.
If they spin it that she quit because her family couldn’t take it, then she doesn’t come across as tough. If they make her out to be a hero because she’s sacrificing for her family, it would be pretty hard for her to ever get back in the ring.
If they spin it that she quit to prepare for 2012, then it comes across as crafty. Not exactly principled.
If this is part of a strategy, it’s a very poor move.
If the republicans weren’t spiraling right now, I’d say the only possible explanation is that she is just throwing in the towel. But they’ve been making some bizarre decisions lately, so who knows?

I’m very conservative and thought she was a terrible pick from the start. In addition to her gross inexperience, her voice can bring a man to tears (in a bad way).
