July 9, 2009 at 6:23 PM #427764jpinpbParticipantI don’t want to go too far off topic here b/c I know many of you are enjoying Palin-talk. But I have asked before on a thread long ago, so I’ll mention again, is this the best the Republicans can come up with?
I would think that Condi Rice would be better qualified. Whether you like her or not, she has a vast amount of experience, credibility, respected, smart. She just seems like so much better of a choice. I mean, Palin seems like a joke compared to Rice.

Jp: Sadly, the Republicans aren’t looking for someone of Condi’s caliber, and that’s where Palin comes in. She’s energized the “know nothing” wing of the Republican party and has enough of a supposed maverick streak to set Limbaugh’s heart aflutter.
I love Condi Rice and I respect her pedigree, acumen and toughness. However, after I watched the party drive off Colin Powell and then humiliate the RNC Chairman just to mollify and appease Limbaugh, I realized what truly deep shit we’re in.
I’ve heard a couple of my friends start talking about a Palin/Gingrich ticket in 2012, and these aren’t stupid people. The Republicans are grasping at straws right now and Palin’s at least smart enough to realize that she has to jump out early to negate the obvious advantages that Romney and Pawlenty have (i.e. brains, savvy and sound ideology).
