I do fine with abstinence as long as there’s nothing in the house (can’t afford any right now). If I have wine at friend’s house and drove myself there, I have no more than two glasses, with food.
I don’t order wine in restaurants, don’t do “happy hour” anymore and don’t drink any other alcoholic beverage other than wine.
And yes, carli, I have some large wine glasses which I fill with ice cubes, seltzer water and wine, like a “wine cooler.” Without the seltzer water backup, I can get about 2 1/4 to 2 1/3 glasses out of a 750 ml bottle :=].

But I think I can do it.[/quote]
FWIW, I think beer and wine can be handled pretty well (with moderation, of course), but when one starts getting into the hard stuff on a regular basis…well, I’ve never seen it work out well.
By keeping it to beer and wine, it might be easier to control. Also, it never hurts to do what BG does and use ice cubes and seltzer water to dilute it. You can also use different fruit juices and make sangrias and stuff. π
(I know the wine snobs want to toss me off a cliff right about now.) π
