sdr – you are just making my point. Every neighborhood that people live in think their neighborhood is THE best.
The way you go on about your little paradise sounds exactly the same as retired dchestney on SDL. A few years ago he very arrogantly stated that there would be no declines there b/c everyone wants to live there. He goes on and on about Hillcrest and how it’s walkable and all the great shops and restaurants, etc. etc. blah, blah.
But if I talk to my friend who is a single professional living in LJ, he goes on and on about how he LOVES living in LJ in his condo and not have to worry about a yard and go to the beach nearby, shops, restaurants, etc. etc.
There was someone else on SDL who wanted country living in San Diego who ended up buying in the exburbs of Fallbrook b/c she declared it was paradise.
Repeating what I said earlier, people in Seattle say that’s THE best city in the US.
How can all these places be the best, including yours? It’s what I already stated. Everyone thinks theirs is the best.

February 19, 2011 at 1:15 PM #668397jpinpbParticipantOh, to add a bit of irony. I know a couple w/2 kids. They bought some units in Hillcrest, but they rent in LJ b/c they think that’s the best school.

There is nothing you said that is wrong or that I ever disagreed with. Yes I think where i live is best and I understand that not everyone feels that way. I also specifically stated it is one of the best for young professional families raising young children not retirees or single professionals. With that said, I know where I live is beleived by many to be one of the best communities because of what I have seen occur here. I have seen several families move up to nicer homes within the neighborhood, I have seen dozens of families move here from less than a mile or two away, I have seen people’s careers skyrocket to the point where they are now making a couple million per year and could afford to move anywhere else but choose to stay here, I have seen more than ten families move away from this community (to other parts of SD, the US and internationally) only to move back into this neighborhood within a couple years. That is my evidence. The one thing I have never stated is that my neighborhood is immune to declines in the past or in the future. I did say it will fare better than most others which it has and will continue to. IN fact, when I started on Piggington my prediction for my community was 30% off peak. It got to somewhere between 15 to 20% off peak and while I still beleive 30% off is possible it looks extremely unlikely at this point. Lastly my infamous bet with CAR was that it would not reach 45%+ drops by the end of 2012 and I would take that bet a thousand times today as it is a certainty I will win that one. My house would have to drop close to the price of the one you just bought which would put yours under $200K. Think that is possible?
