of course one’s background has a great effect on one’s success but there are many other factors.
the way this professor set up the class, some people will fail no matter how hard he tries – this does not reflect real life.
In the US of A, if one tries hard enough one will succeed. The problem is that some never tries and some didn’t try hard enough.
I know this b/c I am an immigrant to this country. There are no other country in the world where one is given a chance to succeed no matter what a person’s background is.
lastly, life is unfair. Some are born into weath. But this shouldn’t deter a person from trying his best if he is from a less advantaged background/upbringing.
